The record
Solo piano, unaccompanied and unedited despite skeptics' claims otherwise -- Tristano's dense left-hand ostinatos and free-flowing right-hand lines here rewrote what one pianist alone could do with time and harmony. A high-water mark of his cool, contrapuntal style, cut for Atlantic at the height of his powers.
