The record
Folk and prison-work-song material gets a stacked West Coast treatment here, Groove Holmes' organ and Teddy Edwards' tenor trading warmth against Frank Butler's crisp swing. A mid-'60s date that finds the big, unhurried voice at home in jazzier, funkier surroundings than his early Basie-band years.
