Two horns built for ballads meet here, Mulligan's dry reed against Ben Webster's breathy tenor, Jimmy Rowles comping patiently underneath. Verve's meeting-of-giants format stripped of any competitive heat.

The earliest we list is the 1960 US Verve mono, MG V-8343, with a deep groove; the stereo of the same year, MG VS-6104, shows one too. Verve renumbered the record V6-8534 for its 1963 reissue, so a low number is not automatically an early copy. For modern pressings, Mobile Fidelity did MFSL 1-234 in 1995, Speakers Corner cut MG VS-6104 in 2003, and Analogue Productions AVRJ-6104 in 2018.
