The record
A West Coast date built around Roberts' bass trombone, the horn usually buried in section work here pushed to the front with Manne's brushes and Mondragon's bass keeping things loose and swinging. Guitars from Hendrickson and Rizzi thicken the bottom end further, giving the whole date a warm, low-slung glow rare for a leader session.
