The record
Small-group swing at its loosest and liveliest, cut for Milt Gabler's Commodore label with a rotating cast of Chicago-school regulars and guests like Hampton sitting in on drums. Condon's rhythm guitar anchors the date, letting Hackett's cornet and Russell's slippery clarinet trade choruses in that unbuttoned, jam-session spirit Commodore made its name on.
