The record
Byrd sticks close to hard bop here rather than the soul-jazz direction ahead, Sonny Red's alto pairing with his trumpet over Walton's grounded chords. Higgins even takes a rare vocal turn, giving the date an easy, loose-limbed charm.

The earliest on file is a 1968 US Blue Note BST 84292 in a Unipak sleeve, All Disc pressed and carrying no recorded markers. A Research Craft copy from the same year is RVG-stamped, as is a 1968 Italian pressing, so the stamped copies are the ones to hunt. German issues use BST 84292 K. Later US Unipak and gatefold repressings run 1973 to 1975, and a Scorpio BLP 4292 appeared in 2009.
