The record
Paired tenors chase each other through fast changes, competitive and grinning about it, Persip's drums pushing the pace whenever things threaten to cool. Gillespie stirs the pot from the side, more provocateur than leader on this one.

The earliest on file is the 1959 Verve MG V-8262 in mono, and an undated repressing of that same number is listed with a deep groove. The British issue came on Columbia as 33CX 10140, also 1959. After that the list is almost entirely Japanese -- Verve VL-1004 in 1960, MV 2034 in 1973, MV 2544 in 1976, 20MJ 0029 in 1985 -- and all of it mono. We hold no stereo pressing and no audiophile reissue for this title, so a clean US mono is the target.
