The record

Recorded near the end of Adderley's Mercury years, just ahead of the Davis sextet gig, this quintet leans on Mance's blues-rooted piano and the Jones-Cobb rhythm team for straight-ahead swing.

The earliest we list is the 1959 US mono, Mercury MG 20531 with a black label; the same year carries a second mono number, MG 36135, and two stereo numbers, SR 60208 and SR 80018 -- one SR 80018 out of the Indianapolis plant lists a deep groove. The UK went out as MMB 12008. Modern copies are thin: a 2024 WaxTime 772352 and a 2026 Mercury 180 gram, 00199957010245.
