The record
A Columbia session from Holiday's earliest, most buoyant years, when she was cutting sides with the era's swinging small-group jazz sensibility rather than the hushed torch-song ache of her later work. The title track would become one of her defining performances, but here it's still fresh, unburdened by the weight history later gave it.
