The record
A rare pairing of a supple, blues-rooted baritone with the era's tightest working rhythm section, Peterson's trio easing back to let the singer phrase at his own unhurried pace. Brown and Thigpen supply the same swing and cushion they brought to countless Peterson dates, here in service of a song stylist rather than a soloist.
